Escrever a doença na cidade moderna – Heinrich Heine e o “relato da cólera”
Palavras-chave:
cholera in Paris 1832, modern city, reportResumo
Heine’s articles on parisian culture and society reveal an understanding of the modern city, the accuracy of which was later confirmed by the poetic and programmatic works of Baudelaire and, in the 20th century, by Walter Benjamin. His report on the cholera outbreak of 1832 in Paris is a highly elaborated text, although Heine refers to the immediacy of its production. It presents the elements of Heine´s vision of urban modernity showing, at the same time, how the presence of the epidemic reveals the negative aspects of the French postrevolutionary society.
