Resumo

This paper will propose a reading of the novel De Profundis (2016) by the Francophone Belgian writer, Emmanuelle Pirotte, the narrative of which anticipates an Ebola pandemic soon, strongly marked by technological development, and from the author’s native context: Belgium, including the Walloon regional framework that serves as a refuge for the main characters. To this setting is added an unexpected fantastic plot that complicates the narrative, and a real reflection on resilience. It should also be recalled that Emmanuelle
Pirotte, daughter of the novelist and poet Jean-Claude Pirotte, published in 2019 another novel on the epidemic and chaotic theme with D’innombrables soleils.
